The Venomous Beauty
by Julianna Marshall, age 12
There’s a spider that’s deadly, did you know?
Some are afraid of the Black Widow
A creature of mystery, born to hide
An hourglass design on one side
Spins webs as thin as a cotton string
With a bite that feels like a bee sting
As small as a safety pin, but venomous
Don’t let it fool you, it’s poisonous
As scary as it seems
When the sun and moon begin to beam
This small, dark wonder goes on the prey
Eating the bugs and saves the day
It controls the number of these pests
And allows the world to be more at rest
