The Lark’s Song
by B.C. Reynolds, age 15
Love, like a Lark’s cheerful song
It wakes the dawn,
It calls for a partner,
It calls for a friend,
And after, in the silence,
Comes a hand of help
For love a spark, and faith the help.
Like kindle for the fire
And in the dawn,
It is awakened by a cheerful, morning crier
And how serene the fruits of devotion
That come with friendship,
So tell me my friend:
Is this not love and devotion we have shared?
For years we thought just lending hands
Our friends
But now the Lark enlightens us to be partners
Every kindness,
Every deed,
Is paid in the end.
By the return of a hand, a partner, friend, or deed
The Lark’s song reminds us all of what we need
