No Need to Worry
by Helen Torr
There is a GREAT BIG MONSTER
Underneath my bed
And I’m scared it will devour me
From my feet up to my head.
HELP!
I know …
I’ll try and introduce myself
By saying “Hello” to it,
Then maybe it’ll like me
And not eat me bit by bit!
Perhaps if I tickle it
Underneath the chin
The monster will start to giggle
And choose not to do me in.
If I give it some nice biscuits
It will like me even more
And, perhaps, it’ll eat the chocolate
When I throw it on the floor.
My brother has just come in to say
“Don’t worry, there is no monster there …”
WHAT?!
And when I look beneath the bed
I can’t find it anywhere.
It isn’t in the cupboard
Or behind my comfy chair,
It isn’t in the wardrobe
It really isn’t there!
PHEW!
