The World’s Greatest Cook

by H.L. Dowless

One day in warm July,
Little Bobby Blue had a bright idea:
Why,
He decided to bake a plum and peach pie!

So โ€ฆ HE TOSSED,
And … HE ROLLED,
And he SQUEEZED OUT the dough,
And โ€˜ROUND,
And AROUND,
Did the plums and peaches go!

Until he filled the tin pan up with sweets,
And it was very, very pretty,
And all the girls said,
โ€œOh man!โ€
But when the pie was cooked,
Did it taste really, really good?

NO! NO! NO!
OOOOOOH!
YUCK! YUCK! YUCK!

So little Bobby found his mother and asked,
โ€œOh dear Mother, can you help me bake
This peach and plum pie?โ€

So … they TOSSED,
And … they ROLLED,
And they flattened out the dough,
And ‘ROUND,
And AROUND,
Did the plums and peaches go!

So they filled that tin pan up with sweets,
And it was very, very pretty!
All the girls and boys said,
โ€œOh man!โ€
But when the pie was cooked,
Did it taste really, really good?

No! NO! NO! OOOOOOOH!
YUCK!

So he SLAMMED the pie down on the floor.
Now what a mess!

Heโ€™d rather eat chocolate SKUNK!
YUCK! YUCK! YUCK!

So little Bobby Blue found his dear old
GRANDMOTHER!

So he asked,
โ€œOh Grandmother, can you help me
Bake this peach and plum pie?โ€

So … they TOSSED,
And … they ROLLED,
And they SQUEEZED out the dough,
And โ€˜ROUND,
And AROUND,
Did the plum and peaches go!

So they filled the tin pie pan up with sweets,
And it was very, very pretty!
All the boys and girls said,
โ€œOh man!โ€
But when the pie was cooked,
Did it taste very, very good?

Why,
OF COURSE it did!
Because GRANDMOTHER
Is the worldโ€™s GREATEST COOK!
