The Great Protectors

by Bella Trinity Morin, age 11

A Ladybug is a type of beetle
that comes in colors
red, pink, yellow, orange,
purple, and brown
with black spots.
They can change colors in the light
and, with over 500 species, can eat
up to 5,000 aphids in a lifetime.
Ladybugs can live up to 3 years.
They help farmers by keeping pests
from putting holes in plants.

Ladybugs are beautiful, God’s creation.
They are graceful when they fly in the sky
and help spread pollen from the flowers.

Ladybugs’ bright colors tell predators
they won’t taste good.
They also let out a foul-smelling liquid
to warn their enemies to stay away.

Farmers are grateful the ladybugs keep crops
like carrots, dandelions, and even fruit safe
from aphids.

Ladybugs can be called the Great Protectors.

The Light

by Bella Trinity Morin, age 11

As the sun is bright
so, the moon is light
Every night, I see the light
go down, down
to show the bright
