Where Is Peace?

by Fiona Halliday

We can find peace in the laughter of a friend,
In the sweet songs of nightingales,
In the sound of rain on the windowpane,
In knowing God’s love never fails.

We may find peace in a favourite story,
In a loved one holding our hands,
In the smell of freshly baked bread,
In a sunset’s warmth on the sands.

We will find peace where we least expect it,
In the snow’s cold, or on a windy day,
In the taste of sprouts at Christmas —
Knowing Jesus loves us every day!
