Upon the Mountain’s Crest
by Edy Blamires (age 16)
All around me I see Grace
Touching fields stretched far before me.
What once was dry and withered grasses,
Ombre shades of a fading summer
Are now cast in cloth of gold
As sunshine is begotten on the mountain’s crest.
Hope and promise meet there,
On the gentle horizon line.
Where I once saw only barren trails,
Reaching ever on,
I now see an open light, as of a fire,
Tinting the paths in amber hues
And singing joy with azure skies.
Gone are the mists that frightened me,
And the storms that laughed in my face.
Waking now, is the burning hymnal
That carries me on till morning.
I see now what wondrous things
Grace brings upon His wings!
What blessings, so many, abound within
His domain of truth and equity!
Standing on the mountain’s crest,
Hope heralds His promise of rest.
The horizon is lighted with those glowing embers
To beckon me on to tomorrow,
And I, in delight, am led to exclaim
“God reigneth! Onward, to the blazen horizon!”
