The Lord of the Sabbath Rest

by Jordan Zuniga

When restless dreams should cause me to wake,
May I remember and make no mistake
The Lord is my guide and my hope in His word,
He watches the flock as the Good Shepherd.

When nightmares come with horrid gloom
With whispers declaring a coming doom,
May I take heart in the dark of night,
The Lord Jesus is my hope and light.

When anxious thoughts should come despite,
Or thoughts of hate come with malicious spite,
Let me take heart, though all is not as it seems,
For the Lord is the Lord of the dream.

When I feel as if I cannot rest,
May I trust in He who knows best,
When it seems my heart and mind are dreary,
He says, “Come to me, all you who are weary.”

May Lord Jesus Christ have all the glory!
