The Lemonade Stand

by Jason Kirk Bartley

“The Lemonade Stand” read by Jason Kirk Bartley.

Kelsea Hyatt set up her own little venture;
only the best of lemons would do,
‘Cause she wanted to sell lemonade
and have it be the best when she was through.
Using Grandma’s recipe,
she sipped it down; it passed the test.
She thought a lot about this lemonade,
for it was truly the best.
Kelsea manned her stand
her father had helped her build.
She pushed her lemonade for fifty cents a cup,
and thirty cups were spilled.
Many neighbors came from all around
with their money in hand.
Kelsea’s lemonade seemed to continue to grow
more and more in demand.
As word got around, it circulated fast,
that she had the best lemonade in town,
there’s no way it would last
as the supply was running down.
But Kelsea vowed to stay
on top of her sales.
She hired a few neighbor kids
and paid them well.
As her line mounted and grew
bigger and bigger by the minute,
some of the adults kept coming back
asking about her lemonade and what was in it?
“Only the best lemons,”
Kelsea replied,
As she opened another stand
on the other street side.
Her sales went
“through the roof,”
like a magical trick, but with Kelsea
there was no “spoof.”
Her pockets were getting heavy
and she was ready to go.
Finally, it was time to close her lemonade stands
until tomorrow.
She had spent out a lot of the money,
but quadruple was received.
It all started with a little girl named Kelsea
who only believed.
