Show & Tell

by Pat Severin

Today’s my favorite day at school,
we’re having Show & Tell.
I’ve practiced what I’m going to say
so I can say it well.

I’ve brought my favorite toy to share,
Larry, my giraffe.
They’ll be surprised when Larry talks,
even Miss Magrath.

Sally brought her doll last week
and talked about her dress.
Dolls and stuff, seems kind of weird,
but girls like it, I guess.

Not everyone is into dolls,
the way that most girls are,
but girls and boys like talking toys
so he will be a star!

First, I’ll bring him up in front,
say, “Larry’s my giraffe,”
then hit his switch, and when he talks,
all the kids will laugh!

I just can’t wait till it’s my turn,
I’ve waited half the year.
I promised Larry he could come,
and now he’s finally here!
