My Grandpa is Goofy
by Clara Klein
It’s ok to be goofy, my Grandpa said
Ok to put funny hats on your head
Ok to dance and wiggle around
And to do somersaults on the ground
It’s ok to sing loud and gallop about
Ok to make faces, to wink or pout
Ok to blow bubbles and kisses, too
And to bark or oink or moo
It’s ok to put ketchup on eggs and bread
Ok to balance it on your head
Ok to draw on tables and floors
And to hide behind closed doors
It’s ok to jump and swing from trees
Ok to land on your hands and knees
Ok to make boats from leaves and sticks
And to make them do fancy tricks
My Grandpa is goofy
But that’s ok
He’s never too tired
To laugh and play
Grandpa Story Time
by Clara Klein
Grandpa jumped up on a stool
To tell his big story again.
“When I was a young man,” he began,
“We did it like this,”
As he threw himself this way and that,
The stool wobbled and almost fell flat.
Then on tiptoes he danced
like he did in the old days.
Stepping lightly on the top of the narrow stool,
He tried hard not to fall.
At the end of the story, he said, “Like that!”
And jumped down off the stool right at us.
He clapped his hands, then wiped his brow,
“I’ll tell you another story tomorrow.”
