Call for submissions!

Pure in Heart is looking for submissions for its first issue!

Who We Are:

We are a new online and print magazine of Christian-themed stories, poetry, and artwork created by adults for children between 6 and 11 years old — though we hope to attract readers of all ages!

Pure in Heart is the little sister of our more serious, adult literature and art journal, Heart of Flesh Literary Journal.

Our name comes from one of our favorite Beatitudes, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” (Matthew 5:8). We are a fan of pure hearts, questioning hearts, grieving hearts, joyful hearts, and hearts that long to see good triumph over evil.

We accept submissions from writers and artists who are over 18, from all over the world. We accept work from both Christians and non-Christians, so long as the submission has a Christian-theme or demonstrates Christian morals.

Sorry, but we do not accept work from children — yet!

What is a Christian-theme?

Good versus evil, a retelling of a Bible story, redemption, hope, brotherly love, a look at Biblical figures, a righteous heart shining against the backdrop of a fallen world, etc.

We like silly and fun, but we also like serious. We like depth. We want work that engages with children without talking down to them.
